2013 US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider Selection: Olympic Classes

1 Laser, Radial, Finn, 49er Men, 470 Men, 470 Women, RS:X Men, RS:X Women

1.1 Athletes or teams that achieved an A1, A2, A3, or A4 performance grade for 2012 events will be ranked in order of their grade and will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team if they compete in the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami. Athletes or teams with the same grade will be ranked in order of their performance at the 2012 World Championships.

1.2 The top US athlete or team that finishes in the overall top three at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team.

1.3 If only one athlete or team has qualified under sections 1.1 and 1.2 then the top US athlete or team at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami that has not previously qualified, will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team. If no US athletes or teams have qualified under sections 1.1 or 1.2 then the top two US athletes or teams at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami will qualify for the US Sailing Team.

2 49er FX – Women’s Skiff

2.1 Athletes or teams that achieved an A1, A2, A3, or A4 grade for 2012 events in another Olympic class will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team if they compete at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami.

2.2 The top two US teams at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team.

3 Nacra 17 – Mixed Multihull

3.1 Athletes or teams that achieved an A1, A2, A3, or A4 grade for 2012 events in another Olympic class will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team if they complete tasks as assigned.

3.2 The top two US teams at the 2013 Nacra 17 World Championships will qualify for the 2013 US Sailing Team.

3.3 If the 2013 Nacra 17 World Championships is a non event then the OSC will publish new qualification procedures.

4 Before being formally placed on the US Sailing Team, Athletes or teams that have qualified above must execute;

4.1 The US Sailing Team Athlete Agreement, and;

4.2 The Code of Conduct.

5 Athletes or teams that are placed on the US Sailing Team will have an option to execute the US Sailing Team Commercial Agreement Level 1 and Level 2.

6 Athletes or teams that have been placed on the US Sailing Team will be removed from the team if/when;

6.1 They resign from the US Sailing Team or retire from active Olympic class competition.

6.2 They are found in violation of the Code of Conduct by the OSC.

6.3 The calendar year ends.

7 The 2013 US Sailing Team rankings will be used as the selection event for any other event during 2013 that has restricted entry unless a different procedure is announced by the OSC at least sixty days prior to that event.
