2003 USDST Ranking System
(October 29, 2002) SONAR - Must sail, must count both events: Rolex Miami OCR Jan. 28-Feb. 1, 2003 Miami, Fla. Disabled Midwinters March 28-30, 2003 St. Petersburg, Fla. 2.4 Metre - Must sail, must count both events: Rolex Miami OCR Jan. 28-Feb. 1, 2003 Miami, Fla. Scoring:
1. Must sail, must count the events as specified for each class above.
2. Final Finish Position (not net points) counts towards Series Standings.
3. Low Point Series Scoring using RRS rule A4.1, except that Final Finish Position will be
used instead of individual race scores. RRS rules A4.2 and A9 are specifically NOT in force
for the series scoring.
4. All boats count as place holders in the Final Finish Position
(able-bodied, disabled, men, women, mixed, international).
5. If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, the tie shall be broken in favor of the
boat with the better finish at the Rolex Miami OCR.
6. If less than three eligible teams or individuals compete in the minimum number of events to
qualify for the team, the Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC) may name fewer than three teams
or individuals to the 2003 US Disabled Sailing Team.
Additional Scoring Policies
1. In order to count towards series score, helm and crew must be eligible to represent the
USA in the 2004 Paralympic Games.
2. The helm and one of the crew other than the helm must be the same person at all of the
qualifying events that are counted towards the ranking.
3. In extremely unusual circumstances such as a medical emergency, the OSC Executive
Committee may approve an exception to this policy.
Non Events
1. If the Rolex Miami OCR is a non-event, the OSC will announce new procedures for team
qualification, which may include existing and/or new qualifying events.
2. If the Disabled Midwinters is a non event, the system will become
