Scoring:

  1. Must Sail, must count the minimum number of events as specified for each class above.

  2. Final Finish Position (not net points) counts towards Series Standings.

  3. Low Point Series Scoring using RRS rule A4.1, except that Final Finish Position will be used instead of individual race scores. RRS rules A4.2 and A9 are specifically NOT in force for the series scoring.

  4. All boats count as place holders in the Final Finish Position. (Men, Women, Mixed, International)

  5. If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, the tie shall be broken in favor of the boat with the better finish at Rolex Miami OCR for Finn, Laser and Radial. For the Star class, the first tie breaker will be RRS A8.1 with final finish position listed in order instead of individual race results. If a tie remains in the Star class between two or more boats, it will be broken in favor of the boat with the better finish at the Springs.

  6. If less than five eligible teams or individuals compete in the minimum number of events to qualify for the team, the Olympic Sailing Committee may name fewer than five teams or individuals to the Team.

Additional Scoring Policies for multi crewed classes

  1. In order to count towards series score, helm and crew members must be eligible to represent the USA in the 2008 Olympic Games.

  2. Doublehanded teams are required to sail with the same helm and crew at all of the qualifying events that are counted towards the ranking. For triplehanded teams, two of the three sailors, including the helm must be the same at all of the qualifying events that are counted towards the ranking.

  3. In extremely unusual circumstances such as a medical emergency, the OSC ExCom may approve an exception to this policy.

Non Events

  1. If the Rolex Miami OCR is a non event, the OSC will announce new procedures for team Qualification, which may include existing and/or new qualifying events.

  2. If an event other than the Rolex Miami OCR is a non event, the system will become Must Sail, Must Count Rolex Miami OCR for Finn, Laser and Radial. For the Star Class, if an event other than the Rolex Miami OCR is a non event, the OSC will announce a new system which may include existing and/or new qualifying events.
