US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider 2012

2012 US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider

The US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider is managed by the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing), the national governing body for the sport of sailing and sailboat racing, and the Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC). The 2012 team is comprised of the top athletes in each Olympic and Paralympic class

The 10 Olympic classes chosen to compete at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Weymouth/Portland, England are: Laser Radial (women), Laser (men), Finn (men), Men’s RS:X, Women’s RS:X, 49er (men), Men’s 470, Women’s 470, Star (men) and Elliott 6m (women). The three Paralympic classes are: 2.4mR (open), SKUD18 (mixed) and Sonar (open).

US Sailing provides the members of the 2012 US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider with financial, fundraising, logistical, performance (including coaching and on-and-off-the-water fitness training) and marketing and communication support. The US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider is led by Olympic Sailing Program Chairman Dean Brenner (Wallingford, Conn.), High Performance Director/Head Coach Kenneth Andreasen (Tampa, Fla.), Communications Director Dana Paxton (Newport, R.I.), Commercial Manager Katie Smith (Newport, R.I.), Olympic Manager Dave Johnson (Pawtucket, R.I.), and Olympic Coordinator Will Ricketson (Newport, R.I.). In addition to Andreasen, the team is coached by Betsy Alison (Newport, R.I.), Romain Bonnaud (Miami, Fla.), Luther Carpenter (La Porte, Texas), and Leandro Spina (Miami, Fla.).
